Based in the US, riding for Australia, with the world's biggest stages ahead.
Hayley was longlisted for the New Zealand Eventing Team for the Tokyo Olympics and has competed under the Australian flag since 2026.
Hayley began riding in Terrey Hills, just outside of Sydney, Australia, after begging her non-horsey but ever-supportive parents for riding lessons. Shortly after, her family relocated to Scotland where she spent six years progressing through the excellent foundations of Pony Club and competitively show jumping ponies.
Upon returning to Australia, she turned her hand to eventing and was incredibly fortunate to purchase a horse from a student of former world number one event rider Chris Burton. Training with Chris fast-tracked Hayley's career, and she completed her first Advanced with a clear, under-time cross country round, aged just 18.
She went on to produce various horses through the levels, investing further in her own training with Tony Manca, coach of other notable Australian riders including Olympic silver medallist Kevin McNab. Two top-10 finishes at Adelaide 5★ led to her being named on the longlist for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics for New Zealand.
In 2022, Hayley relocated to compete internationally in the USA with self-produced OTTB Dunedin Black Watch, completing Maryland CCI5★ on arrival and establishing Dunedin's US base in Cochranville, PA (summer) and Aiken, SC (winter). Training with Boyd Martin at the highest level, she has built one of the most impressive non-US records on the East Coast circuit.
2025 marked a landmark year. Martha Tomlinson, Dunedin's European partner, sourced an Irish Sport Horse, Sportsfield Lumiere ("Johnny"), and insisted Hayley needed him. That instinct proved correct: the partnership produced back-to-back second-place finishes at the MARS Bromont CCI4★-L in June 2025, and at TerraNova CCI4★-L in November 2025, the latter a remarkable comeback after Hayley broke her leg the day after Bromont. "I wasn't planning on another horse, but Martha put him on a plane and told me I needed him. She was right," Hayley said. "He's the most scopey, honest, genuine guy."
Hayley is passionate about sharing her knowledge and helping others achieve their goals, whether that's a horse jumping for the first time or a rider progressing to their first recognised event.
She is incredibly patient and her positive approach aims to instil confidence in both horse and rider. She does not believe in shortcuts and is committed to developing strong partnerships and good horsemanship at every level.
