What we stand for.

Our mission, vision and values, not words on a wall, but the principles behind every horse we source, every partnership we build, and every decision we make.

Our Mission
Developing elite sport horses and placing them with the right people, with the financial discipline and considered judgement this sport deserves.
Our Vision
To be the most trusted name in elite sport horse ownership, competing on the world stage, producing horses that matter, and building partnerships that last.

Trust is not claimed. It is built, one horse, one partnership, one result at a time. For us, the world stage isn't an aspiration, it's where this programme operates. WEG Aachen in 2026 and the LA Olympics in 2028 are the next of those stages, not the last. The partnerships that last are the ones we're most proud of, clients who come back not because they have to, but because they want to be part of what we're building.

What We Stand For

Four principles.
The way we work.

These aren't aspirations, they're accountabilities. Every horse we source, every syndicate we structure, and every client we take on is held against them. If we can't meet these standards for someone, we'll say so.

01

Partnership
Over Transaction

Lasting outcomes in this sport aren't built on deals, they're built on relationships. We source and develop every horse with long-term alignment in mind: the right pairing, the right trajectory, the right future. We're not interested in a quick placement that creates problems six months later. We prioritise the relationship over the commission, every time.

In practice
When Martha sourced Sportsfield Lumiere, the conversation wasn't just "does he have the scope?", it was "is this the right horse for Hayley's programme at this stage?" That question is what produced two 2nds at CCI4★-L in 2025.

02

Performance
With Purpose

Results matter deeply to us, but we don't chase them. Each horse is developed on a clear, considered pathway: building strength, trust and soundness before asking for more. We believe the horses that last are the ones that are never rushed. Our results, 5★ completions, 4★-L podiums, a Tokyo longlist, are the product of patience, not pressure.

In practice
Dunedin Black Watch was an OTTB off a Queensland racetrack. A decade of careful production brought him to Maryland CCI5★. That's what performance with purpose looks like, not a shortcut, a process.
02
03

Access Through
Opportunity

Elite sport horse ownership has traditionally been reserved for those with deep pockets and the right connections. Our syndicate and co-ownership model changes that, making it possible for the right people to be part of a horse campaigning at the top of the sport without bearing the full cost or risk alone. We structure it fairly, transparently, and professionally, because the sport deserves better.

In practice
The Dunedin JJ Syndicate gives members real ownership in an international eventing horse, with Hayley in the saddle, Katie managing the structure, and Martha's sourcing expertise behind it.
03
04

Precision
Over Volume

We are deliberately selective. We take on the horses we believe in, the clients we can genuinely serve, and the partnerships we can stand behind. This isn't a constraint, it's a choice. Over 50 years of combined experience across three continents has taught us that depth and scale rarely travel together. We will never be the biggest. That's the point.

In practice
In practice, Dunedin runs a string of horses, each on a specific, documented pathway. Hayley knows every horse deeply. That's not a limitation. That's the model.

Love my little Irish sport horse sourced from Ireland by Hayley and Martha, super versatile and amateur friendly, really lovely guy. Did a great job sourcing a lovely horse with lots of potential without having to break the bank. Highly recommend.

I purchased my horse from this incredible team and have been extremely happy with him. Dunedin finds high-quality horses and provides great care for each one. I have also had the opportunity to train with Hayley Frielick, and the lessons have been some of the best I've ever had. Her teaching style is clear, effective, and connects well with so many riders.

My family has had the best experience doing business with Dunedin Sport Horses. The girls assisted me in the sale of a horse, and I have watched them for months taking care and working/training horses. Each of them are gifted beyond measure and the horses are so well cared for, it's a true pleasure to learn from them.
